Seattle Vacation, Hotels in Seattle

Finding the right hotel is easy, having a good time is purely up to you and Seattle will make having fun on your vacation easier than many other places you may visit. There are number of things you and your family can do to stay entertained.

Seattle is anything other than just another city to visit someday. Everyone seems very down to earth. There so much from sightseeing to outdoor adventuring.

Seattle’s famous for their space needle which provides a 41-second elevator ride reaching 520 feet up to the observation deck. You can also enjoy a meal at the restaurant, SkyCity, that revolves 360 degrees while you wine and dine.

Did you know Seattle gets an average of 17.4 hours of sunlight which is two more hours than what California gets. This allows grapes more time to ripen which allows for great wine-making. Today, over 400 (and counting) wineries exist in the state of Washington with 350 grape growers contributing to the industry. So while your visiting make sure to enjoy a glass.

Traveling to Seattle with kids? Check out the Pacific Science Center. You can take your kids back to meet the dinosaurs or take them into a special sun room to see a butterfly emerge from its own chrysalis. There’s also this huge 2-ton ball of granite that kids can rotate with their own bare hands. Cool Stuff.

Hotel Safety, Enjoy a Safe Vacation

Vacation is all about rest, relaxation and fun. Although this is a time to let loose, you still must understand there are horrible people in this world and we must protect ourselves at all times. Below are a few tips to keep safe while in your hotel and on your vacation.

  • It’s been proven that most crimes at hotels happen at locations where hotel room doors face the parking lot. Some describe these models as “motels”. Hotels with the rooms within the complex, not facing the parking lot, have been proven to be at less risk. Nobody walking buy on the sidewalk will notice your door slightly ajar, although it should never be ajar.
  • That brings me to tip #2, don’t leave your door ajar, even if it’s just to get some ice from the machine down the hall. If you leave your door slightly open and your walking down the hall, this gives a criminal the opportunity to sneak in your room steal a few things or await your return which may lead to something worse.
  • Prior to deciding on a hotel to stay in you should research the area. You can usually find more information about crime in a city by searching on Google for “city” crime map.
  • Make it a habit to always keep your door locked. Some criminals will knock posing as housekeeping while others will just walk in and hold you up at gun-point. You must know how to avoid both of these situations.
  • You should always try to stay away from a room near the stairwell or any other area that may provide a criminal with a spot to hide. If your door is near a good hiding spot, a criminal can remain hidden until the perfect time for them to attack.
  • Always avoid those rooms with doors to other rooms. Who knows about the person staying in the room adjoining yours? They could be a criminal on the run, who knows. The only time it is good to get a room with an adjoining room is when your own party is large enough to occupy both rooms.
  • Vacation is all about rest, relaxation, fun and recharging that old battery. Although sometimes we thing of vacation as “getting away from it all” we really are not getting away from it all. Crime is everywhere so while on vacation have all the fun you can handle. Just never stop playing it safe.
